2018…the year of fixing Recruiter Experience? Fingers crossed…
So, it’s been a crazy year hasn’t it? Before we know it, it’ll be December and then it will be New Year’s Eve and then boom 2018 is upon us. But what will the new year bring us? More bingo buzzwords? A deeper understanding of Brexit? AI finally making all recruitment teams redundant?
Who knows, however one theory I have is that we need to look at probably the final “experience” that has not had much coverage…recruiter experience. We have had candidate and hiring manager experience but why not recruiter? Why do we not spent more time thinking about the people and the teams who actually do the day job, spreading our message far and wide.
I think there are a few things Resourcing Leaders need to look at to ensure they are setting their teams up for success. We could go into much more detail but top level they are:
- BAU – Do every day operational activities match strategic direction? Why is a “digitally” focused organisation that promotes speed and innovation process-heavy when hiring?
- Capacity – Do our recruiting teams have enough capacity to deliver an effective and quality service? Do we properly use workforce planning (yes hello Danny & Kraig x)
- GDPR – Do we properly know how to engage people? Are recruiters unsure of how it will impact their ability to find and hire good candidates?
- Employer Branding – Are we setting our recruiters up to fail by having our employer branding saying X when our employee experience is Y?
- Google for jobs – Is our attraction strategy optimised? Are we setting our teams up for success by ensuring our jobs appear where they need to appear?
- Tech – Do our solutions really fit the problems our recruiters face or is it an easy way to win an award?
Nothing massively rocket science there but all important things if we want to truly nail recruiter experience which in turn will fix…yes you guessed it; candidate experience.
I’ll leave you with a quote. Simple but yet very powerful:
“If you look after your staff, they’ll look after your customers” - Richard Branson
