Note from the Editor

Now we are more back into the swing of things we're working on our Directors events for 2014 and starting to look at our technology event which will be in June.  We're continuing with our bi-monthly #rechangout and this week's (Wednesday at 1pm) is on the subject of 'Should recruiters be using Google+?' with the brilliant Andy Headworth.

We also launch the first in our new features this year with our new 'Confessions of a Recruiter".  If you wish to contribute to this or 'Recruiters Inspiration' please drop me a note.

Confessions of a Recruiter – The Basil Fawlty Effect
We kick off our new series with a corker of a confession from a recruitment researcher who at the time was working with a top executive search firm.  As with all our confessions they are published anonymously and we don’t condone the actions of those involved!

I was working with a particularly frustrating European client who had emailed the recruitment team with a tough request. I forwarded the request to my boss with added intro of  “Bloody German’s”.  The second I pressed ‘send’ I realised that I had ‘Replied All’ and my comment was winging its way in the clients inbox. This was in the early days of the internet when emails weren’t quite instantaneous so I rushed down to the ‘Server Room’ to unplug everything.  Alas I was too late and I was found later, by my incredibly understanding boss, rocking on the floor in tears!
