Confessions of a Recruiter – The Basil Fawlty Effect
We kick off our new series with a corker of a confession from a recruitment researcher who at the time was working with a top executive search firm. As with all our confessions they are published anonymously and we don’t condone the actions of those involved! I was working with a particularly frustrating European client who had emailed the recruitment team with a tough request. I forwarded the request to my boss with added intro of “Bloody German’s”. The second I pressed ‘send’ I realised that I had ‘Replied All’ and my comment was winging its way in the clients inbox. This was in the early days of the internet when emails weren’t quite instantaneous so I rushed down to the ‘Server Room’ to unplug everything. Alas I was too late and I was found later, by my incredibly understanding boss, rocking on the floor in tears!
