Editor's Note

Feeling like the industry is really busy at the moment.  We're getting lots of press releases and enquiries from recruiters and suppliers to the industry.  There are also lots of events taking place; an interest in personal development is always a good sign of recruiter activity.

On that note I'm going to highly recommend that you check out the events we have coming up!

On Thursday 20th October it's our Recruitment Directors Only Event and the subject is social media. Our speakers are social media experts Andy Headworth of Sirona Consulting and Steve Evans of NetNatives, plus Sophie Relf, Head of Marketing Strategy from Guardian Jobs and Will Winch of law firm Mishcon de Reya.  Our sponsors are Broadbean, Trisys Software, Simplicity, Talenttizz and Saville Consulting. The event takes place on 20th October 2011 from 3pm to 6pm at The Guardian's offices near Kings Cross. Only 12 places to attend are left available; directors of recruitment firms can find out more and register for the event at http://recnet20oct.eventbrite.com

Also, on Wednesday 2nd November it's our End of Year Conference in central London. This event is for everyone involved in the recruitment industry, including recruitment agencies, employers, publishers and job boards. It will expand your knowledge, offer tremendous networking opportunities, benefit your business and/or personal development, and represents a fantastic opportunity to meet with the best minds in our industry today.  We have a fabulous line up of speakers and the conference runs from 10.30am to 6pm; you can choose which presentations you attend on the day. The event is run by UK Recruiter in conjunction with CV-Library and sponsors idibu, epc, Changeboard and Hireserve.  Numbers are restricted (80 places in total), so reserve your tickets now http://recnet2nov.eventbrite.com

Hope to see you at one or both events!

Weekly Tips

Weekly Tips - My top 3 ways to work smarter with research in Windows 7

1) Tired of spending time copying, pasting and flicking between windows? If you're using a desktop PC that's got two monitor inputs then plugging in an extra screen could be one of the most time efficient moves you ever make. If you use a laptop it's still really easy. Take a look here http://tinyurl.com/nlr5p5

2) Not ready for an extra monitor (or use a nice wide monitor already)? Use the Snap feature in Windows 7 to get more information on one screen. More information here http://tinyurl.com/ylqgvst

3) Still opening files that you only need a quick glance at? You should really be using the preview pane. Nice little article from lifehacker about it here http://tinyurl.com/5wl2rlz
